Bedding and Nesting Material
Hamsters love to burrow and therefore it is important that you have selected the right bedding. The bedding can also impact your hamsters health too. It's worth bearing in mind that you will need 2 types of bedding:
- Substrate
- Nesting
Substrate bedding is used to cover the bottom part of the cage. You can use materials such as paper, fiber or wood to cover the bottom part of your hamster cage. If you are considering wood as option then it's best to avoid cedar and pine-wood as the odor from these material could cause respiratory issues for your hamster. Nesting bedding is used on top of the substrate bedding. This bedding provides comfort and coziness for hamsters, it is where they can curl up and rest. Tissue paper based materials like toilet paper, kitchen paper or newspaper are a good choice for nesting bedding. To maintain your health and wellbeing of your hamster, it's important that you clean their cage on a regular basis. Hamsters need dry bedding and nesting material.

Hamster Food
Providing a balanced diet with all the right nutrients is important for your hamster as this helps them thrive. Hamsters can eat palleted foods, a mixture of seeds and fresh fruit or vegetables such as apples, bananas, peas, broccoli and carrots. Place the food in a small bowl, along with fresh water in a water bottle. You should feed your hamster once a day and remove any fresh food that hasn't been eaten within a couple of hours.
