Flea and Worming Treatment for Dogs
Fleas are the most common parasite that your dog can come into contact with, and they can cause some very unpleasant skin conditions. Likewise, worms pose a relatively common problem for dogs. Some worms such as tapeworms and roundworms are found quite often in Ireland and the UK, whereas other worms such as hookworms and whipworms are quite rare in these parts. The severity differs depending on which kind of worm it is that is causing your dogs problems, with some worms such as whipworms rarely showing symptoms. There are, however, worms such as lungworms which can even cause death. So it is always better to be on the safe side with any parasites so that you can keep your canine friend at tip top health.
Flea spray
In terms of fleas, one method which can be very helpful for prevention is using a spray. You can go for a spray which is to be used directly on rugs, dog beds, carpets and any other fabrics which might be at risk of holding flea eggs. Or you can pick up a room fogger. The great thing about this is that it is a complete room treatment, and that it gives you around 7 months protection. This means that, even if you haven't seen the signs of fleas in your home, you can have peace of mind about your room being clean and clear after using it. The fog spray gives you a thorough cleanse of the room not only of potential fleas and flea eggs, but also of other insects such as ants, cockroaches and earwigs, so it is a great all in one package to combat infestation and to keep your dog healthy and happy.
Dog flea collar
Another handy preventative method to go for is the anti-flee and tick dog collar. This is to be recommended only for dogs of over 6 months old. The Beaphar dog collar should fit most adult dogs, and it is also reflective as well as waterproof, so even without its flee killing properties it is a practical and top quality collar. The secret weapon however is that it is able to spread a slow release insecticide through your dog's coat, meaning that any ticks and fleas will be got rid of. Not only that, but the collar also gives your dog a further 4 months of protection against reinfestation.
Pills and pill treats
We also have a range of puppy worming tablets and dog worming pills. Take a look for instance at the Endoguard plus range and the Anthelmin plus range, and you will be able to ensure that you have what you need for both prevention and treatment of the full range of potential worm parasites. These worming tablets have been flavoured so that they are palatable to your dog, but if you want to be even more clever about it, then we would recommend the chicken and beef pill treats. These have been developed so that they can easily be shaped around a pill and packed into a tight ball so that your dog will be too busy chowing down on the delicious meaty goodness to realise that there is a pill within!
